Located in the Blue Star Art Complex, Halcyon is more than just a coffee shop. In fact to call it a coffee shop is doing it a disservice. As you open the door your eyes are immediately drawn to the expansive bar and wall of liquor that includes a well-stocked humidor. Halcyon has both indoor and outdoor seating which makes it a great place to hang out with friends, have meetings, or for having a drink and a bite.
Halcyon is a coffeehouse and as such offers up the traditional coffee menu (order a latte and you get a side of animal cookies) but they also have a breakfast menu that includes breakfast tacos, egg skillets, omelets, overnight french toast, as well as pastries. For lunch or dinner, Halcyon has sandwiches, flatbreads, snacks (that include items such as nacho tots -on my to eat list), and desserts that include S’Mores and Bowls of Holes. In addition to coffee they offer up other non-alcoholic drinks -teas, milk shakes, smoothies.
On weekends from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the early morning menu is expanded to include brunch with items such as waffles (with and without chicken), benedicts, steak-n-eggs, and pancakes.
Halcyon advertises itself as a coffeehouse by day and lounge by night. It has a full bar which includes beer, wine, and cocktails with names such as slick rabbit, cinners & sage, and sherry cobbler. How about an espresso shot in your drink? The cocktail menu also includes espresso enhanced drinks as sleeping is not allowed at the bar.
In addition to happy hour Monday to Friday from 4-8 they have live local music every Friday and Saturday.
Halcyon definitely has something for everyone.
